Carwile to lecture at Cooley House Foundation Series

The Cooley House Foundation Lecture Series is Thursday with guest lecturer Guy W. Carwile, professor in the Louisiana Tech University School of Design – Architecture.

The lecture will be at 6 p.m. at Ouachita Grand Plaza auditorium and is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture.

Carville will address the relationship between the Cooley House and Tech’s architecture department, as well as the Cooley House placement on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Carville is architect emeritus and the Ken Hollis Endowed Professor in Liberal Arts at Tech. He has been a faculty member for more than 20 years. He hold a Bachelor of Architecture from LSU and a Master of Architecture from Rice University. Carville researches several styles of Louisiana architecture. He teaches required architecture courses and a survey course on the architecture of Louisiana and other specialized courses.

He has contributed articles to professional journals and is writing a book on the architects of modern Shreveport.
