ULM student found dead in apartment

Monroe police are investigating the death of an Asian ULM international student found dead in the 400 block of Filhiol Avenue.

Detective Reggie Brown said Monroe police received a call from the University of Louisiana at Monroe Police Department that it had received a call about a deceased female student. Brown said he believed the student to be in her mid-30s.

Police have not released the identity of the dead student. “We don’t know if she has any family here, or if the family is all abroad,” Brown said.

The student was found dead in an apartment Saturday night by someone with concern who was checking on her, Brown said. She had been reported missing for more than a week.

Brown said the police were treating the death as a homicide until determined otherwise. Brown said there was no sign of a forced entry into the apartment and the body has been sent away for an autopsy.
