Rodney McFarland, a local minister, business owner and president of the Monroe City School Board, has a tax lien against him of $42,612.74.

Rodney McFarland is president of the Monroe City School Board.

The Louisiana Department of Taxation and Revenue filed the lien on Feb. 25, and it was entered into 4th Judicial District Court records on March 16. The lien covers amounts from 2001-2010 and includes interest.

McFarland on Thursday said that an accounting error caused the issue and they've "worked through other issues they don't agree with." He said the issue is on track to be resolved within 30 days.

The department also filed a lien against McFarland in 2010 for $71,468.48 in owed corporate and sales taxes.
