Monroe Police arrested a man Tuesday for attempted second degree murder after he turned himself over to authorities.

Devantae James was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for two counts of attempted second degree murder in connection to a Sunday shooting on South 4th Street.

Police are searching for a second suspect, Roderick Cooper, who is wanted in connection to the shooting.

Monroe Detective Reggie Brown said the shooting occurred in the 600 block of South 4th Street around 8 p.m.

Earlier in the day James and Liansel Mayes were involved in an altercation that stems from a year-long feud over James dating Mayes' cousin and allegedly abusing her. The fight occurred in the 300 block of Plum Street. After the altercation Mayes left for South 4th Street.

James and Cooper drove to South 4th Street and fired several shots at Mayes, who was hit in the leg, Brown said. Another unnamed victim was shot in the upper torso. Both are in stable condition in a local hospital.
