MPD finds missing K-9 officer

A Monroe Police Department K-9 officer that made an escape Saturday night was found safe and sound Sunday afternoon on Harmony Lane.

According to Assistant Police Chief Don Bartley, Ducko, a Belgium Malinois, was working the night shift with officer Jared Desadierwhile on patrol in the Forsythe Avenue area of Monroe.

Bartley said when Desadier opened the door of the patrol car to let Ducko take a break, he ran. A woman reportedly found the dog Sunday and called the police.
