Jackson's arrest on charges of illegal possession of stolen things took place after officers initiated a traffic stop on Curtis L. Woods, 44, 912 Riverside Drive. Woods' arrest report states he failed to use a turn signal when turning and could not provide a driver's license during the stop.

The report states officers noticed several boxes of clothing merchandise in plain view inside the vehicle and asked Woods about the boxes.

Woods said there was a pile of boxes in an alley that people were rummaging through, the affidavit states. An investigation revealed that all of the merchandise was taken from FedEx the night before.

According to the arrest affidavit, Woods said he knew the items in the alley were stolen but decided to take some. More than $1,000 in merchandise was found in the vehicle, the report states, including apparel, shoes and display items scheduled for delivery to area stores on Monday.

Investigators traveled to the location where the packages were reportedly located and later received a Crime Stoppers tip relating a specific address on North 11th street where FedEx boxes were visible on the front porch and on the side of the house, an arrest report states.

Following the execution of a search warrant, additional boxes were found inside the home.

David Westrick, FedEx Ground Media Relations, said the corporation is working with authorities as they continue their investigation.

"The safety and security of packages tendered to us is a top priority at FedEx Ground," Westrick said. "We appreciate the efforts of the Monroe Police Department in helping to recover a van involved in the weekend theft at the Monroe station."

Jackson was also taken into custody at the address and booked on the illegal possession of stolen things charge. Bond was set at $5,000.

Woods was booked on charges of illegal possession of stolen things, driver must be licensed, turning movements and required signals. Bond was set at $5,300.
