Richwood inmate batters assistant warden

An inmate at Richwood Correctional Center was charged with battery of a police officer after a Monday incident.

The victim advised Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies that Quentain A. Burleson, 41, of Lafayette, was acting out in a session with his counselor around 10 a.m. Tuesday when he was sent out into the hall.

The victim reportedly encountered Burleson in the hall. The arrestee reportedly squared off and hit the victim in the face. The victim also sustained injuries to his left elbow and hand before several other officers detained Burleson.

Burleson was advised of his Miranda rights and was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center. Bond information is not yet available.
