U.S. District Judge Robbie James ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to file a proposed order addressing "all remaining alleged deficiencies" that the Monroe City School Board needs to address no later than Friday.

A gavel.

During a Jan. 13 conference call, council for the Department of Justice, school board attorney Doug Lawrence and Scott Wolleson — who represents Superintendent Brent Vidrine, disputed the school district's compliance with the consent decree.

James ordered the Department of Justice to provide specific details about any issues the board need to resolve. The board and Vidrine must respond by Jan. 27. The responses must include specific, detailed objections to the proposed order, state whether an evidenciary hearing is requested and, if so, list proposed witnesses and include the evidence those witnesses could provide.

As previously ordered, the Department of Justice had provided a list of perceived deficiencies to counsel for Vidrine and the board. Vidrine responded to that letter, and the Department of Justice filed an additional reply.

Both Vidrine and the board have filed responses to the Department of Justice's motion for judgement on the pleadings.
